E6 Bus Service Slated for Reduction in Service and Possible Elimination

WMATA recently announced plans to "reduce the frequency and span of service" for the E6 Chevy Chase Line due to "low ridership."  Docket B13-02 describes the proposed service and tariff changes for several bus routes, including the E6.

In truth, ridership on the Chevy Chase line has never been higher, with 25% more riders today than in 2008. Instead of building on our already strong and growing ridership base by expanding service, DDOT has recommended reducing, and perhaps soon eliminating, a vital bus line used by hundreds of daily riders in the upper Northwest section of DC.

Public hearings are scheduled for the week of September 16, 2013.  Of the six meetings, not one will be held in the Chevy Chase/Friendship Heights area. Two hearings are scheduled for DC:  (1) 1101 4th Street SW and (2) 501 Riggs Road NE.  WMATA is also accepting written statements, which may be emailed to writtentestimony@wmata.com.

Your voice can also be heard through WMATA's survey on the proposed service change. The survey, which closes on September 24, 2013 at 5 p.m., may be accessed at https://survey.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_821K8lwDGleJdt3
